I design digital products that are better for people and the planet.
Hello, I’m Mark: UX & UI designer on a mission to make software faster, easier to use and lighter on the earth.

The spark
Friday afternoon art classes were three hours of pure flow. While my classmates watched the clock, I filled sketchbooks and discovered the thrill of creating something that didn’t exist a moment earlier.
The detour
Teachers steered me towards “proper” subjects, so I earned a Business & Technology degree. The upside? I learned how humans and systems collide, and how good design can turn friction into delight.
The breakthrough
My first job, designing interactive training on CD-ROMs (anyone remember those?), proved two things:
- I love translating complex ideas into intuitive screens.
- Every pixel creates an experience, good or bad, for the user at the other end.
The craft
Since then I’ve helped organisations from Dyson to Lloyds launch products that:
- Reduced user journeys, saving thousands of staff hours a year
- Cut page weight and hosting emissions
- Reduced user frustration & support demand
Whether I’m creating interfaces for hydrogen-powered drone ships or refining Sparkol’s VideoScribe features, the goal is the same: a better experience for users, less waste and more wow.
Why good UX matters
Bad UX doesn’t just cause frustration, it creates excess emissions too. Heavy media, excessive user flows and more time on site means more data transferred and servers running harder.
Streamlined journeys = lower carbon and happier humans.
Beyond the interface
Outside of work I can be found user-journeying around a squash court, or user-flowing through obstacles - I even competed on ITV’s Ninja Warrior UK.
Let’s build something better for people and the planet
If you want your site, app or software to delight users and reduce its footprint, I’d love to talk.
